Digital Forensics Challenge 2013

InfraGard Springfield is pleased to announce the 2013 Digital Forensics Challenge (DFC) to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013. We are also excited to announce a change to the format this year which will allow our InfraGard Springfield IMA Members in good standing to join in compete on a team!

The Digital Forensics Challenge provides an entry-level experience for attendees to expand their computer security education through hands-on simulation of real-world investigations requiring the use of digital forensics.

This year, each team will also accommodate an InfraGard Springfield IMA Member new to digital forensics to join in for this valuable training and experience.  This full day event is an exciting opportunity that allows participants to gain practical experience in the field of digital forensics.  As in past years the DFC will be presented in collaboration with UIS and CSSIA.

Why would you want to take on such a challenge? It is widely recognized that digital forensics are time consuming and cost prohibitive for most individuals and organizations.  The insight and experience you will gain from our Digital Forensics Challenge event may help you and your organization in a time of need when handling an incident necessitating internal or external forensics consulting.  Would you know how to uncover evidence if a security breach has occurred?

InfraGard Members who are already proficient in digital forensics and the use of EnCase are encouraged to serve as judges for the team-based, competitive challenge in the afternoon.

Even if you do not wish to participate, all InfraGard Members in good standing are invited to attend the event at 2:30 pm in University Hall Building Room 2034 when teams present their findings before a judges panel.

Apply now for a chance to participate in this valuable opportunity!
